Fishing

The Sherwood Services Fishing is available to members of the Club. Children of members may participate in club activities when accompanied by members. Trips are held monthly throughout the year; contact the club for more information.

Sherwood Services Fishing Club is a sub club of the Sherwood Services Club Inc.

The Fishing Club is open to membership for Services Club members only. Children of members may participate in club activities when accompanied by members.

The sub club is run by a committee elected at an Annual General Meeting. There is a fee payable for annual membership which is set by the committee. The sub club sells raffle tickets at the Services Club on Friday night and Sunday lunch time.

The payment received from the Services Club for this activity forms a large part of the sub club's income. Members are asked to sell these tickets on a roster basis. (as a rule each member will be rostered to sell the raffle tickets approx. 2 to 3 times per year).

Fishing trips are held monthly through the year, both day and camping trips are planned.

Day trips

Are open trips with a weigh-in held at a member's residence followed by a BBQ cost is $10 per member, children free.

Camping Trips 

Are based at pre determined Tourist Parks where the club sets up a base camp (a fully equipped trailer is set up which includes everything a member needs - except for their tent and bedding. (everything right down to the kitchen sink). Trip fees are payable, cost depends on type of trip.

Fees for camping trips in 2007, were $20 per person, which included camping park fees, Saturday night BBQ dinner and Sunday morning BBQ breakfast. The trip costs are set by the connnittee at the beginning of the year.

On camping trips, most people arrive Friday evening and enjoy the evening sitting around swapping fishing tales etc. There is a notice board located in the foyer at the club which is used to notify members of upcoming events and trip sheets. Members are required to put their name on the sheet supplied or to advise the Club Treasurer of their attendance at trips to help organisers cater for the upcoming trip.
